CAMHS ADHD Assessment
If your child or young person has difficulties they may be referred to CAMHS to conduct an ADHD assessment. They will usually be asked to bring with them their parent(s)/guardian(s) and a teacher who knows them well.
In response to COVID-19, parents and caregivers' responses to interviews pointed out the positives of remote appointments but also that face-to–face appointments would be preferred during assessments.
Symptoms
If your child or young person you know is suffering from ADHD They may have trouble sitting still, forget things, have trouble falling asleep, and are easily distracted by other stimuli. They may also struggle to keep up with the demands of tasks or activities at school or home or at home, struggle to comprehend information and may find it difficult to follow instructions. Diagnosis

If your child was referred to CAMHS ADHD Assessment Service, they will be seen by at least one person from the team. The team will employ standard assessment techniques and detailed histories taking to determine your child's difficulties. They will also send Conners questionnaires to the child as well as the parent(s) or guardian(s), and an educator who knows the young person very well.
The CAMHS team will determine if your child requires further testing and refer them a psychologist who is a clinical. This project was developed to speed up the time for the ADHD assessment. This was achieved using an easy instrument for data collection and integration into the clinical system. This has allowed the average number of weeks from the date of referral until the date of the ADHD assessment feedback to be reduced. The QI team would also like to thank City and Hackney CAMHS ADHD for their commitment and hard work throughout the course of this project.

The City and Hackney ADHD team recently completed an improvement project in quality to reduce waiting times and improve service user satisfaction. The team consulted service users during the assessment process and identified the key issues that helped inform improvements to the path. For instance, they were of the opinion that the assessment was too long and there was not enough support on offer postassessment. They would also like to see more targeted help for families and children who are diagnosed with ADHD.
After the QI project was implemented and implemented, the wait times between initial referral and ADHD assessment significantly decreased. This is in line the trust-level targets, and reflects the importance of improving efficiency and capabilities across the CAMHS System. The team used the change model and Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to create positive changes in the ADHD process.
